Child Abuse Prevention

3/31/2017

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, with the color blue representing child abuse awareness and prevention. This month, ask yourself how you can help reduce the rate of child maltreatment. That might be as simple as reading articles about prevention, or as grand as holding a town hall meeting. Learn about child development. Learn about healthy parenting. Learn about healthy boundaries. Learn about coping skills. Then share that information with others. Even if you don't have children. Even if you are not a child. Even if your children are adults. We all are affected by children's development or lack of development, so be invested in yourself and your communities, and help in the fight against child maltreatment. People who experienced traumatic events tend to have a distorted comprehension of what right and wrong is and even in reality.
