MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST - CONTRACTOR
Our small business is located in Reading (Cincinnati), Ohio and also in the entire state of Ohio. Say what? Yep! That’s because we offer both in-person and online clinical counseling. We might be biased, but we feel like our small practice is a pretty cool and relaxed place to work, and we are so proud to provide effective services to children.
Who We Are:
Child Counseling Place is a private, mental health practice that lights the path to emotional wellness for children. We do that by providing hope, connection, strength, and growth through mental health treatment. We value the combination of a therapeutic alliance and good knowledge of therapeutic treatments in order to move our clients and patients to their ideal selves.
Now, let’s talk about the good stuff:
Here are the requirements:
Here are the job duties:
And here are some extra tidbits:
So, here’s the first line of the litmus test for our search of the right clinician: When you apply for this position, you must include “This job seems like a fit” in the subject line of your email in order to be considered. If you can follow the first instruction, we know you are paying attention.
We are looking to bring our new colleague on board in January, 2021, and we will spend the necessary time to find the best fit for our company. We think this position could be a great fit for someone wanting to branch out into private practice in any capacity. Historically, we have focused on providing services to children with trauma histories, but we are open to working with a colleague who has a passion for working with other types of mental health issues – just let us know what type of child/adolescent jives with you!
How to Apply:
Send your resume (please include your license number) to info@childcounselingplace.com along with a description of the type of work you like to do. If you have a non-clinical strength that could benefit the practice, we’d love to hear about that, too! If writing is not your thing, feel free to send a video describing the things just listed.
Looking forward to meeting you!

Now, let’s talk about the good stuff:
- No productivity requirement!
- Competitive Pay
- You’ll earn 50% of the direct fee for service for the first $1,500 you bring in and then 60% thereafter. Cha-ching!
- The hours are pretty flexible. While the office is not available every day, you will get to make your own hours the days the office is available.
- We’re not big on micromanaging. You have a higher education degree. The state has determined you are fit to provide mental health treatment to others. Unless an issue arises, you won’t feel us breathing down your neck (especially right now because of masks) to get the job done.
- Having said that, we are helpful! If you need help with anything, we will do what we can to support you.
- We provide the EHR, secure e-mail, telehealth platform, billing support, and phone support, giving you time to focus on what you do best – providing mental health treatment.
- You have the opportunity to do more than clinical work (and get paid)! If you have a strength that can benefit the practice in other ways besides direct counseling, show us what ya got!
Here are the requirements:
- You must be at least a master’s level clinician with a current Ohio independent license (we’re talking LPCC, LISW, PhD, PsyD, etc.). We will consider dependently licensed individuals who have 5+ years’ clinical counseling experience.
- You must have had a least 2 years’ experience in a community or hospital mental health setting.
- Our office is available on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for appointments, and we are hoping the person who fills this position will be able to schedule a minimum of 5 direct contact hours each week for the majority of the year. (Feel free to schedule up to 20 direct contact hours each week.)
Here are the job duties:
- Provide excellent care to children! This includes keeping up with current best practices.
- The rest of the duties are pretty much the same as anywhere else:
- Complete diagnostic assessments/evaluations with appropriate & timely documentation, offer recommendations for treatment, provide clinical treatment, develop individual service plans, and create appropriate and timely progress notes and documentation.
And here are some extra tidbits:
- You really can take this job and run with it! While you will need to keep up with documentation, you won’t be bogged down with it as is often the case in the non-profit sector, which means you will have more free time!
- While our name has been out there for several years and we get referral calls throughout the week, you are encouraged to help with your own referrals. You will be building your caseload, not walking into a caseload.
- You need to be an independent worker. You will have to follow a couple systems and processes (the EHR for example) and we encourage you to collaborate as needed, but you will be flying solo for the most part so we expect you to be able to manage yourself appropriately and follow instructions without management intervention.
